LKS – Finance Market (Virtualization) – IOPstor storage solution along with virtualisation

Background
LKS had a setup of 7 physical servers and a file server for their stock market activities. They were continuing to face issues of downtime and maintenance. There wanted faster speeds within their IT infrastructure. Being a stock broking concern speed was of utmost important and reliability was key. They had feeds coming in from 3 different locations ie. BSE , NSE and MCX. Remote management of the servers was required. No downtime was essential as stock market operations are mission critical. They had to deploy their current servers remotely in a data centre for which they were paying a enormous annual recurring cost. Scalability was important which they were not able to get with their current infrastructure. Due to usage of SQL in their stock broking software they required higher IOPS.

Solution
After studying the operations for a week we suggested an IOPStor storage solution with a physical server with virtualisation. Also for their requirement for lower latency and speed and high IOPS we suggested them an all flash storage for all their virtual servers and spindle storage for all their data.

Results
Firstly, the biggest advantage to them was from managing seven physical servers now they had to only manage and maintain a single server which could be remotely administered. Due to the all flash storage speeds, users increased productivity and reduced downtime. A plus was shifting from physical server to virtual servers they were able to size their virtual servers remotely based upon their requirements from time to time without any down time. Due to the speed increase in the IT infrastructure the team was able to log in orders at a faster pace thus book higher profits.
